The Trainers

Heidi Walters has been involved with dogs since she was little. As well as animals she was involved in a lot of baking. That took her to a long career as a Pastry Chef which led her to baking in some of the best bakeries in Appleton and then Seattle.

At the same time her love for dogs kept her involved with them for many years; whether volunteering with rescue organizations, pet sitting, or training her own dogs. One day it was a clear choice to turn that passion into her life’s work. Leaving her long career in baking she joined Riverdog Canine Coaching, a well known training facility in the Seattle area. During her time there she acquired a tremendous amount of knowledge about dog behavior, training, and what helps dogs learn; and quickly rose to position of Senior Trainer.

After moving back to the Midwest, she realized she could bring that knowledge and experience to Madison area dog owners. Her goals are to educate families about their dogs and teach canines and people to have mutual beneficial relationships. She is a member of The Association of Pet Dog Trainers, and continues to educate herself on the most up to date training methods. Her training style includes positive rewards and clear communication. Heidi’s commitment to clients is to give the best information and training possible, to meet each family’s specific needs.

Along with the training knowledge and passion she possesses, she can also bake a pretty darn good dog biscuit or doggie birthday cake! Heidi lives in Madison with her husband Mark, 2 cats (Javier and Nila), and her lab/pit mix Rusty.

Jodi Wolfram is a Certified Veterinary Technician graduating from MATC in 1992.  She is also a Certified Pet Dog Trainer, becoming certified in March 2007.

She has worked her entire professional life giving to the animals. She is a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers as well as the Society of Veterinary Behavior Technicians.

Her training method has evolved not only from hands-on experience, but also from the latest developments in training theory.  She invests a great deal of time and effort attending seminars, workshops, and conferences to continue to learn from some of the most respected and knowledgeable trainers, behaviorists and veterinarians, so that she may bring this information back to her students.

It is her aim to offer you and your dog the very best instruction, and sincerely hope that you find the training programs to be both enjoyable and successful. She shares her home with her husband Brett, two daughters Taylor and Kiara her son Brady, Bandit (Australian Cattle Dog), Zoey (dobermutt) and Princess (Dutch Rabbit).

Kelley Stout will be teaching some of our in-house group training classes in the new facility. She is also available for a limited number of private consultations and/or in-home training.

Kelley graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2004. Her love for dogs began as a child. Although not allowed to have a family dog, she was the neighborhood dog-sitter until she went to college. It was then that she got her first dog Kobey, the chocolate lab, immediately falling in love with the training aspect of dog owning.

Volunteering for a rescue organization and the humane society provided further experience in dog handling and typical breed characteristics and tempermant. Most recently she went to a 6 week intense dog training academy in San Francisco, CA with Jean Donaldson famed author of Culture Clash and Dogs are from Neptune.

She currently lives in Madison with her three dogs a chocolate lab, a shepard mix, and a great dane/lab mix.
